A LOT Polish Airlines flight bound for Chicago had to return to Warsaw shortly after take-off due to an engine issue. The Boeing 787-8, which took off at 16:40 from Warsaw’s Chopin Airport on Friday, was over the North Sea near Norway’s coast when it encountered the problem.

According to LOT’s spokesperson, Krzysztof Moczulski, the aircraft, identified as SP-LRG, was forced to turn back because of an indicated oil pressure issue in one of its engines. Consequently, both the outbound flight LO 003 and its return flight LO 004 were cancelled.

In response to the unexpected disruption, LOT ensured that all passengers were accommodated in hotels. The airline’s call center is facilitating rebooking for affected passengers onto the next available flights. Meanwhile, Chopin Airport’s alerts confirmed the cancellation alongside reports that other flights continued without any delays.
