A Polish fishing team has won the prestigious Stairs2Hell championship for the third time, claiming victory at the 10th edition of the competition held at the Nové Mlýny reservoir in the Czech Republic, in the south Moravia region.
The team, EKO BAITS Team Poland, comprising Mariusz Stępień, Ernest Buć, and Łukasz Grudowski, announced their triumph on Facebook on 10 October, writing: “We’re doing it again!”
The team previously won the competition in 2021 and 2025, making this their third victory and second consecutive title, as reported by Polish broadcaster Polsat News. “We’re doing it for the third time, but this time the circumstances are absolutely EXCEPTIONAL,” they wrote in their post.

The Polish trio also broke their own record for total catch weight, hauling nearly 77 kg of fish from the reservoir. Their previous record, set five years ago, stood at almost 74.5 kg.
The competition is decided not by the number of fish caught, but by the combined weight of the three largest carp pulled from the water. The team finished with three carp each weighing over 25 kg. The heaviest single carp caught during the entire championship weighed almost 30 kg.
Poland won in all categories except one — the heaviest individual fish. That record went to the Czech team, who landed a carp weighing over 27 kg.
Local newspaper Břeclavský deník noted that anglers from across Europe caught a combined total of nearly four tonnes of fish over the course of the event. The competition runs for 142 hours — almost six days.
