The U.S. delegation will be led by Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy to the Middle East, and Howard Lutnick, who has been named the Secretary of Commerce. Other delegates include Charles Kushner, nominated as the U.S. Ambassador to France; business figures Isaac and Laura Perlmutter; and several prominent U.S. representatives, including Robert Book, Michael Friedman, and Boris A. Epshteyn. U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Daniel Lawton and Ellen Germain, the U.S. Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues, will also be present.

The ceremony will take place near the infamous gate of the former German camp Auschwitz II-Birkenau in Oświęcim. The event is expected to draw approximately three thousand attendees, including Polish President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda. Survivors of the Holocaust will also attend, with an estimated fifty participating to share their testimonies.

The Auschwitz museum estimates that over 1.1 million people, primarily Jews, were murdered at the Auschwitz complex, which operated from 1940 until its liberation on January 27, 1945, by Soviet soldiers. The anniversary of the camp’s liberation is now marked as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

There was previous speculation reported by TVP World about the potential participation of J.D. Vance, the newly appointed U.S. Vice President. However, this was later corrected by TVP World and confirmed by both Polish diplomatic sources and the U.S. Consulate in Krakow, stating that Vance would not attend the event. Natalain Wabersich, representing the U.S. Consulate, refrained from further commenting and advised following updates from the White House.
