Polish authorities have intensified their response following recent acts of sabotage on the railway line between Warsaw and Lublin. During a press conference, Jacek Dobrzyński, the spokesperson for the minister overseeing special services, confirmed that operations are underway to secure additional evidence concerning these incidents.
According to Dobrzyński, Polish security forces have already made several arrests. These individuals are currently being interrogated to determine their involvement in what has been described as a terrorist act. Although the exact number of arrests remains undisclosed, the Polish Internal Security Agency is actively leading these efforts.
In a related development, the Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against suspects, particularly implicating two Ukrainian nationals. Przemysław Nowak, representing the prosecution, stated that strong evidence has been collected against these individuals. This evidence includes forensic findings, witness testimonies, and surveillance footage. The suspects allegedly committed acts of sabotage to further interests of a foreign intelligence service, specifically the Russian Federation.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned these hostile acts on Polish soil. It claims that Russia deliberately recruits Ukrainians, cynically using them to execute hybrid attacks and destabilize European allies amid its ongoing military aggression against Ukraine.
Further complicating the situation, these suspects are reportedly residing in Belarus, complicating legal proceedings. Polish authorities have made diplomatic overtures for their extradition while seeking broader international cooperation to bring them back for prosecution. Proposals for temporary custody have been submitted to the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court.
In response to these events, Poland has launched “Operation Horizon,” a military initiative devised to bolster the protection of critical rail infrastructure. This security measure supports existing efforts to manage the current third-degree security alert – CHARLIE. The alert, effective from November 19th, reflects heightened vigilance against potential terror threats and will continue until February 2026.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has echoed these security measures, reinforcing the national stance against any threats to critical infrastructure. Moreover, the incidents have prompted calls for international scrutiny over external influences purportedly seeking to damage Polish-Ukraine relations.
