Rafał Trzaskowski, a prominent candidate for the Citizens’ Coalition in Poland’s presidential race, recently participated in a military training initiative called “Train with the Army”. This programme, now in its sixth year, offers a practical, one-day military training course designed for Polish citizens aged 15 to 65 and organised by the Ministry of National Defence.

Taking place at the base of the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade in Wesoła, Trzaskowski shared his experience with enthusiasm. He posted a picture of his certificate on social media, emphasising the practical nature of the skills acquired. “The knowledge gained was invaluable, and the instructors were both professional and approachable,” he remarked. According to Trzaskowski, the training covered essential skills such as first aid, firearm basics, and survival techniques, including how to kindle a fire using only a flint.

However, there was some scepticism over his participation. Błażej Poboży, an advisor from the ruling Law and Justice party, questioned whether Trzaskowski truly attended the session. This doubt was briefly addressed when Wioletta Paprocka, Trzaskowski’s campaign manager, posted a photograph proving his presence at the event.

The “Train with the Army” course is accessible to all interested individuals through various means such as phone, email, or even text message. The initiative aims to build a robust civil defence mechanism by equipping citizens with fundamental skills necessary during crises. The current session runs through July 5th, with thousands of spots available for those eager to contribute to national security.
