On Sunday, Athens will host the 42nd Marathon Peace March, an event expected to significantly affect traffic across several municipalities. Participants from the towns of Marathon-N. Makri, Rafina-Pikermi, Pallini-Gerakas-Anthousa, Agia Paraskevi, Chalandri, and Psychiko-Filothei will join the procession, leading to a series of planned traffic disruptions.
The traffic regulations will be enforced throughout the day from 8:00 AM until 6:30 PM to ensure the smooth conduct of the march. During this period, certain avenues and streets will be inaccessible to vehicles. There will be prohibitions on parking and stopping along these roads, which include segments of Marathonos Avenue, Mesogeion Avenue, and their connecting streets.

The local authorities have outlined specific timing and locations for these traffic restrictions. Notable areas affected include Marathonomachon-Agia Paraskevi from 08:00 to 09:30, and various sections of Marathonos Avenue from early morning until the early afternoon. Similarly, parts of Mesogeion Avenue will see closures later in the afternoon from 16:00 to 18:30.
Moreover, vehicle crossing along the route will be limited, except at certain controlled junctions. These include crossings at Marathonos & Dionysou, Marathonos & Aeroporias, and several intersections within the involved districts.
The Traffic Police have issued a public notice recommending drivers avoid these areas during the specified times to minimise inconvenience and traffic congestion. They urge citizens to cooperate fully with the arrangements to facilitate a successful event.
