Croatia’s restaurant scene has gained a new Michelin star, awarded to Harry’s Piccolo, a recently opened restaurant in Poreč, as part of the latest edition of the Michelin Guide for Croatia.
According to the Michelin Guide, Harry’s Piccolo is part of a new five-star hotel and follows the culinary direction of its sister restaurant in Trieste, which holds two Michelin stars. The kitchen is led by local chef Goran Hrastovčak. The guide describes the restaurant’s menu as a journey blending sea and land, Italy and Istria, tradition and contemporary sensibility, with highlights including lobster with béarnaise sauce flavoured with pear brandy, black truffle, and green pepper.
Elsewhere in Croatia, Agli Amici in Rovinj remains the country’s only two-star restaurant. A further thirteen restaurants retained their single stars, including Pelegrini in Šibenik, 360 in Dubrovnik, Alfred Keller on Mali Lošinj, Boškinac on Pag, Noel and Dubravkin put in Zagreb, Korak in Plešivica, LD on Korčula, Nebo in Rijeka, Monte and Cap Aureo in Rovinj, and Krug in Split.

A number of restaurants received or retained the Bib Gourmand designation, which recognises good quality at a reasonable price. These include Nure and Beštija in Zagreb, Loora in Đakovo, Alla Beccaccia in Valbandon, and Taj Mahal in Dubrovnik, among others. In total, 84 restaurants received a Michelin recommendation this year.
Individual awards were also presented. Chef Marin Pleše from Vila Rova on Krk received the Young Chef of the Year award, Branimir Vukšić from Pelegrini in Šibenik was named Sommelier of the Year, Zagreb’s Nure won the award for New Opening of the Year, and Rovinj’s Monte took the prize for Best Service.
