Frequently asked questions
What’s the best way to learn Croatian?
In our opinion, the best way to learn Croatian is through structured lessons with a teacher, combined with independent study. Most learners benefit from a mix of guided learning and self-study—for example, taking group lessons or individual classes while using online tools to reinforce vocabulary and grammar. Speaking practice is key, so regular exposure to the language in conversations, podcasts, or videos helps immensely.
How long does it take to learn Croatian?
The time it takes depends on your starting level, learning frequency, and goals. Most beginners reach A1 proficiency after two 12-week courses if they study consistently. To hold everyday conversations, 6-12 months of learning is typical, while fluency can take a few years depending on dedication.
Is Croatian hard to learn?
Croatian has a logical structure but takes time to master. The grammar includes seven cases, which can be challenging, but the pronunciation is straightforward since each letter is always pronounced the same way. With a good learning method, Croatian becomes much easier than it first seems.
What’s the difference between group and individual lessons?
Group lessons follow a structured program with set schedules, offering peer interaction and an engaging environment. They’re cost-effective and great for motivation. Individual lessons allow personalised learning at your own pace, with flexible scheduling and a focus on your specific needs and goals.
Can I try a lesson before signing up?
Yes! We offer free trial lessons so you can experience our teaching method before committing. You’ll meet a teacher, get an introduction to the learning process, and try a short Croatian lesson.
Do I need to buy books or materials?
No, all learning materials are included in our courses. You’ll get digital lesson materials, interactive homework, and can use our study tool to reinforce learning between classes.
What happens if I miss a lesson?
For group courses, you’ll get access to lesson recordings so you can catch up. If you’re taking individual lessons, you can reschedule for free with at least 24 hours’ notice.
