A bar from Athens has been crowned the best in Europe at the inaugural Europe’s 50 Best Bars awards, with Greece placing six venues in the top 50. The ceremony took place at De Kromhouthal in the Noord district of Amsterdam, sponsored by Perrier.

The winner, Line, is located in the Petralona neighbourhood of Athens and is run by Nikos Bakoulis, Vasilis Kyritsis, and Dimitris Ntafopoulou, alongside close colleagues Emilia Baga and Michail Angelos Zeimbekis. Speaking immediately after stepping off the stage, Bakoulis said the team had not expected to take first place.
