The small village of Šušnjevica, at the foot of the Istrian side of Mount Učka, hosted its traditional Day of the Vlach Language — known as Zija de vlåška limba — on 6 September. The event brought together young language learners, tradition bearers, film, music and contemporary artistic performances on the grounds of the local school.

The festival was organised by the association Spod Učke and the Ekomuzej Vlaški puti. Organiser Viviana Brkarić described the Vlach language, also known as Istrorumanian, as both one of the strongest symbols of identity for Šušnjevica and the surrounding area, and one of its most endangered languages. She said the event is not merely a cultural occasion but an opportunity to show the public how important it is to make the language part of daily life for new generations.

Brkarić noted that Spod Učke is the only Istrian association whose work is systematically focused on teaching and preserving the Vlach language. Since 2021, the association has run the project
