More than 150 Croatian soldiers have been deployed to Kosovo as part of the NATO-led peace support operation known as KFOR. This mission is essential for maintaining stability in the region, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Croatia’s Ministry of Defence.

Croatia has been contributing to the KFOR mission since 2009 and has sent approximately 2,400 personnel over the years, including 140 women. This latest deployment sees 151 members of the Armed Forces, both men and women, being dispatched. They were ceremonially sent off from the “3rd Guard Brigade Kune” barracks located in Đakovo.

The largest unit within this 44th contingent is a motorised infantry company. Alongside them, the contingent is comprised of an air component, a headquarters unit, advisory and development teams for Kosovo’s security forces, and a medical team.

Croatian soldiers are currently participating in ten international operations, missions, and activities, with a total of 297 personnel involved.

The Vice President of the Croatian government and the Minister of Defence, Ivan Anušić, expressed that all international partners commend the dedication and professionalism of the Croatian Armed Forces in missions and operations around the globe, as reported by the ministry.
