The operation was the result of a concerted effort by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Human and Goods Trafficking, alongside local law enforcement from the Alimos police department. After analysing information gathered over several days, authorities targeted three apartments located within the same building, leading to the discovery of the artefacts and the subsequent arrests.
The items seized during the raid include an array of historical treasures such as kylikes (drinking cups), vials, lekythoi (oil flasks), clay figurines, and replicas. Additional finds consisted of prochoi (jugs), miniature skyphoi (deep bowls) from the Archaic and Classical/Hellenistic periods, and clay lamps tracing back to Roman and Byzantine eras. Noteworthy too were a selection of bronze and silver coins, as well as ceramic fragments.

Following the operation, the artefacts were presented to the relevant Antiquities Authority to verify compliance with laws concerning the protection of cultural heritage. It was confirmed that all items fall under existing legislation, with eight needing further examination to determine their significance and origin.
The arrested individuals face charges related to breaches of antiquities protection and cultural heritage laws. They have been referred to the prosecutorial authorities for further legal proceedings.
