A rescue operation conducted by Frontex was successfully carried out on Wednesday night, rescuing 38 migrants from a boat adrift in the Mediterranean Sea, approximately 37 nautical miles south of Heraklion, Crete.

The operation unfolded under challenging weather conditions, with strong north-westerly winds reaching up to 4 on the Beaufort scale, complicating the rescue effort. Despite these difficulties, the migrants were safely transported to the port of Agia Galini in the Rethymno region.
