After an intense battle with cancer, Kougias passed away on 28th February. During his final days, he was under intensive care in a private clinic in Athens due to deteriorating health following a fever which had persisted for several days.

Alexis Kougias was recognized for his involvement in high-profile legal cases, including the trials related to the Pallini Satanists, the terrorist group 17 November, and other notable crimes.
