The Greek police successfully intervened to prevent a series of planned illegal motorcycle races in the town of Megara, Attica, following an investigation that began online. The races were reportedly organised through digital platforms, attracting a substantial number of motorcyclists to the area.

The operation, conducted by the Traffic Directorate of Attica and supported by special police units, occurred on the evening of Saturday, October 25th. Law enforcement officials arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as the organiser. He is facing charges for inciting unlawful conduct and attempting to disrupt road traffic.

During the operation, police conducted extensive traffic checks, resulting in the identification of 39 legal violations. These included 16 instances of motorists obscuring their license plates with stickers to avoid detection, and another 14 related to excessive noise from the motorcycles. Other infractions included driving without a valid license, failing to pass a vehicle inspection, and lack of essential vehicle equipment.

Authorities removed 21 driving licenses, 19 vehicle registration documents, and two pairs of license plates as part of the operation. Additionally, another motorcyclist was detained for driving without a license, which had been revoked earlier in the month by the Western Attica Traffic Department.

This preventative action occurs within the context of increased police activities across Greece, especially during national celebrations such as the October 28th holiday. Previous operations have resulted in numerous fines and vehicle impoundments, highlighting the authorities’ stringent approach to road safety and law enforcement.
