According to EMY’s chief, Theodoros Kolydas, an emergency weather bulletin will be issued on Saturday to provide detailed information on the expected developments. Areas anticipated to be most affected include Western, Central, and Northern Greece, with heavy rain and snow predicted over mountainous regions.
Specific cities in Macedonia, such as Veria, Edessa, and Thessaloniki, are likely to experience snowfall. The cold wave is expected to be accompanied by a Jet Stream, intensifying the adverse conditions in affected regions.

Further forecasts by meteorologists highlight snowfalls extending to lower altitudes in the regions of Macedonia, Thrace, and Thessaly from Monday onwards. This is due to the interaction of arctic air masses with milder, moist Mediterranean air.
Before the change in weather, the country will experience clearer skies and higher temperatures, reaching up to 19°C in some areas by Saturday. However, by Sunday, the arrival of the cold front will bring widespread rainfall and snow to the north.
The conditions are expected to persist into Monday and Tuesday, with heavy rain and sparse thunderstorms. Additionally, gale-force winds are predicted in the Aegean Sea, potentially posing challenges for maritime travel.
Citizens are advised to stay informed through local weather updates and take necessary precautions in advance of the impending severe weather conditions.
