In his inaugural speech, Milošević emphasized the need for continued advocacy for minority rights and equality for Serbs in Croatia. He expressed his gratitude to Pupovac, acknowledging his extensive contribution to building the institution, stating, “Pupovac’s political and life experience will remain invaluable.” Milošević underscored that the organization’s ongoing battle includes the protection of language and script rights, along with efforts to combat hate speech, which he believes can only succeed through unity and perseverance.
The assembly also appointed Anja Šimpraga as Milošević’s deputy, while Dragana Jeckov continues her role as vice president. During this transition, Milošević highlighted the importance of engaging young people in SNV’s programs, indicating that the leadership change should mark the beginning of a future-oriented transition.
The assembly was attended by prominent officials, including Davor Božinović, the Interior Minister, representing Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. Božinović praised SNV’s dedication to fostering community strength and collaboration within the broader Croatian society, which he deemed essential for future stability.
Milorad Pupovac, reflecting on the challenges faced by the Serbian community, stressed the significance of cultural and educational programs to ensure the community’s sustainability and integration. “Our task,” Pupovac noted, “is to create a sustainable and integrated community through cultural, educational, and social programs.”
The assembly also approved reports that highlighted achievements in social, cultural, and educational initiatives, notably the work of cultural centres and political engagement of young Serbs through the Political Academy.
Milošević mentioned key SNV programs, such as the media initiative “Novosti,” celebrating 25 years, and new undertakings like the Vida TV production and the “Od vrata do vrata” project, indicating a strategic vision towards innovative outreach.
