The Republic of Croatia celebrated its Statehood Day with a spectacular aerial display across the nation. Organised by the Ministry of Defence, the event featured multi-role fighter jets, Rafales, which flew over cities throughout the country from 17:00 to 19:10 local time. This event commemorated the 35th anniversary of the first democratic parliament, known as the Sabor, of the Republic of Croatia.
A large crowd gathered at Lake Jarun in Zagreb, where the jets marked the beginning of their aerial routes precisely at 17:50. Citizens of varying ages were enthralled by both the military exhibition and the airborne display. This event showcased various military equipment, including armoured vehicles and helicopters like the Black Hawk, while demonstrating the capability of the Croatian military forces. In addition to the visual spectacle, a celebratory concert was held later in the evening at the Croatian National Theatre.

The airborne display captivated observers nationwide, leaving many gazing at the sky. Split into two main routes, the jets flew over key locations. The land route included stops over Zabok, Varaždin, and Vukovar among others, while the Dalmatian route covered cities like Dubrovnik, Split, and Zadar. Each location experienced an increase in noise levels due to the jets.
The event not only celebrated Statehood Day, but also served as a tribute to the Sabor’s founding members from 1990, 188 of whom are still alive today. Attendees at the theatre concert also included members of this first parliamentary assembly, connecting Croatia’s past with its present achievements.
