Ferry services across Greece are experiencing significant disruptions due to strong northern winds reaching up to 9 Beaufort, particularly affecting the Cyclades and Crete. The adverse weather conditions have led to numerous alterations in ferry departure schedules from major ports in the Attica region.
According to the Greek Coast Guard, many ferries departing from Piraeus have delayed their sailings. The Blue Star Patmos, originally set to sail to the Dodecanese in the early afternoon, will now depart at 23:59. Likewise, the Blue Star 1 to the Cyclades and the Ariadne bound for Chios and Mytilene have also postponed their journeys to late in the evening.
In other routes, the Nisos Rodos will now leave for Heraklion at 22:00, and the Kissamos to Chania has a revised departure time of 22:00 as well. The Knossos Palace successfully departed as scheduled at 21:00 for Milos and Heraklion.

Services from Rafina are limited, with only routes to Marmari and Agia Marina – Nea Styra operational. Meanwhile, from Lavrio, a full sailing ban remains in effect.
Travellers are advised to stay informed by regularly checking with local port authorities or their ferry companies for updates on changes or cancellations.
This maritime disruption coincides with an extreme fire danger alert issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection across multiple regions, including Attica, Crete, and other parts of the Aegean. In response to the high fire risk, public parks in Athens have been closed, and the use of machinery that could spark fires is strongly discouraged.
Residents and visitors are urged to exercise caution and avoid activities that could potentially ignite wildfires as the firefighting services remain on high alert with increased patrols and operational readiness.
